Supporting GP Registrars and International Medical Graduates on their pathway to Fellowship

Prema House Medical Centre is proud to support doctors undertaking training and Fellowship pathways through the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

We provide a rural general practice environment where GP Registrars can develop their clinical skills and experience as they work towards Fellowship of the RACGP and a career as a General Practitioner.

We also support International Medical Graduates (IMGs) undertaking RACGP pathways towards Fellowship, helping doctors build their experience within the Australian general practice system while continuing their professional development.

These doctors are qualified medical practitioners and are part of our clinical team. Patients may therefore be booked directly with a GP Registrar or an IMG doctor as part of their normal appointment.

All doctors work within their level of training, registration and experience, with appropriate supervision and support from experienced GPs.

By supporting both Australian-trained doctors and International Medical Graduates, Prema House Medical Centre is helping develop the next generation of General Practitioners and strengthen the rural healthcare workforce in Lismore and the wider Northern Rivers community.

Supporting doctors on their journey to Rural Generalist Fellowship

Prema House Medical Centre is proud to support the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) Rural Generalist Fellowship Program by providing training opportunities for doctors undertaking their specialist training in rural general practice.

ACRRM Registrars are qualified doctors who are undertaking further supervised training and working towards Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM). Their training provides experience across the broad range of healthcare needs found in rural and regional communities.

As part of our commitment to rural healthcare, Prema House Medical Centre provides ACRRM Registrars with the opportunity to work directly with our patients as part of their supervised clinical training.

Supporting the next generation of doctors in rural NSW

Prema House Medical Centre is proud to support medical students from the University of Wollongong (UOW) as they undertake their clinical training and work towards becoming doctors.

As a rural medical practice in the Lismore community, we believe it is important to help train and support the next generation of doctors who may one day work in rural and regional communities.

During some consultations, you may be asked if you are comfortable having a medical student present. Students may observe the consultation, take part in appropriate aspects of your care, or discuss your case with your GP as part of their learning.

Working together to support rural healthcare training

Prema House Medical Centre is proud to work closely with the University Centre for Rural Health (UCRH) to support the education and clinical training of future health professionals in the Northern Rivers.

Through our relationship with UCRH, we support university medical students undertaking rural clinical placements, as well as medical practitioners continuing their training and professional development.

We believe that providing high-quality clinical experiences in a rural setting is an important part of developing health professionals who understand the unique needs of rural and regional communities.

Patients may be asked if they are comfortable having a student or trainee health professional involved in their consultation.
